Shoulder pad

Hey! I think I may have done better with the shoulder pad this time. I got some pics of it's transfermation and a reference pic so anyone can rate it and check it out/give me suggestions.

This is the reference pic so everyone knows what I am talking about

This is it's first on film debut! We made it earlier but it had been broken since then!

When I knew I was going to Otakon I tried to make it look better. This is what it looked like when I went to Otakon last year....

It's just a small bmp but you get the point, it's all flat and I really wanted to improve it.

Then this happened when I used the air dry foam. It's all crackly and when I asked people how it looked I got alot of negative comments like "Well shouldn't the prongs be smaller?" So I saw their point, see it for yourself!

It looks like an alien life form lol!

Here's what it looks like today! My little shoulder pad is all grown up lol! It looks lighter on film than it really is.. I am just wondering if you guys think it looks good this way cause if not I have something I have to ask about..

How reliable is this stuff? Has anyone used it? Does it make a smooth surface?

Well that's all for now, I hope you guys have enjoyed seeing the growth of my shoulder pad lol. I hope to see some pics of your stuff soon!

I'm working on my claw, it's going really well. ^_^
I'm a perfectionist, so it might take a few weeks more..>_>
Your shoulder pad looks awesome though. Did you make it all out of plaster? Because it actually does look like metal. ^_^
Well, I used some paper mache and then some foam finish to try to even it out. Then I just used some spray paint. I try to use normal paint but it never looks like metal, so my basement is painted silver lol! Can't wait to see your claw! As for me, it's on to the boots, suspenders, and leather pad on the shoulder. Then..hopefully I can con Kevin into taking some pics..(It's hard to pry him off of the PS2)
Yeah, when I spray paint, I go in the backyard, so we're probably the only people in our neighborhood with a patch of gold grass. Tee hee, but seriously, it looks like actual metal and it turned out great. Good luck with the rest! Can't wait to see it all, and I'm having a lot of fun w/this thing actually. I'm a major perfectionist..(it's a curse) but it's turning out pretty well..and let me just say I'm glad though that Vincent only has one arm like this.
@_@
**random spaz attack** Can't wait til Otakon..squeeee!
Wow! I'd love to see that claw!
**looks over at it**
Must work harder and faster!!!
Your icon is so pretty..do yo have a larger image that you got it from??
Yeah! I had a dream about Otakon last night, but it was kinda awful lol. I was going there but when I finally got there it was 5pm Sat and my costume was missing pieces and I couldn't go home without getting back on Sunday!! No one cosplays on Sunday! It was a sad dream. I have had 2 like that! The shoulder pad looks good then? Cool, cause the idea of using that plaster wrap scares me. The only problem now is getting this shoulder pad attached to my husband some how. I'll be so happy when it all comes together! Can't wait to see your Vincent! Are you gonna get those red contacts?? I have been on the forever long search for perfect Aeris contacts, I get a good color but then it is too dark to really come out on film. ::sigh:: oh well, I am done with my rambling!!
Weird!! I've had a lot of dreams where I go to a con, and as soon as I go into the bathroom to change (I'm usually already in my cosplay by the time I get there though..) I'm missing half of my Vincent stuff...
Yeah, I'd like to get a hold of some contacts too, my eyes are green you can have mine..ok XD eew...
A good way to attach the shoulder armor would be a stretchy band with velcro or a belt/clip sort of thing..so he'd still have dexterity in his arm but it wouldn't fall off.
You can have my eyes but it probably won't help too much, their green too but they are all olive like and crap so I try to make them more blue and pretty looking for the costume. I don't think anyone was really born with red anyways lol. It's funny to know other people have nightmares about missing costume pieces too lol!! Yeah, thanks for the ideas on how to get the pad to his arm, I got an elastic band that ended up too wide for the pants, so I'll try something with that.
I wish I was born w/red..ooooo..
Yeah, when you really put your heart into something, I guess you get paranoid. You're welcome for the ideas, cosplaying gets scary sometimes and it's nice to get a second opinion.
Beautiful job on the shoulder piece! I have yet to start on the one I'll be making yet, but it's awesome to see how yours is coming.
Thanks! I put on some bolts and stuff last night. If you look real hard in the corner of the refrence pic, you know what I'm talking about? Well, I put those on, I was so happy to find my dollar store sells air dry foam! I have been buying it like 4/5 dollars a pop at Walmart.
